This comprehensive day of in-person training will prepare new Early Childhood Educators to enter classrooms with foundational knowledge of how to care for young children and engage with families, as well as understand how to navigate the ECE landscape in Vermont. The day will be broken down into 4 training sessions, outlined below. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend the entire day.This is an in-person training, which will be held on Friday, 8/28/2026 at CCV in Winooski. Further details will be sent by email.
8:30-8:45 - Welcome
8:45-9:45 Who’s Who? What’s What? - Participants will get a breakdown of the organizations and agencies that support Vermont's ECE workforce, children, and families. Participants will also get an overview of career supports and career pathways available to Early Childhood Educators in Vermont.
9:45-11:45 - Introduction to Licensing - instructed by a local child care Licensing Specialist- Participants will learn about licensing regulations and become familiar with health and safety requirements.
11:45-12:30 - Lunch on your own
12:30-2:00 - Introduction to Interactions - instructed by a local SPARQS Assessment Specialist.
Participants will gain foundational knowledge of the importance of interactions and how they support the every day care and education provided in early care settings. This session will touch on the importance of building community, responding to children’s needs, behavior guidance strategies, and enhancing play and learning.2:00-2:15- Break
2:15-3:45pm - Introduction to Strengthening Families - instructed by a local SPARQS Quality Support Specialist.
